Chianti Classico, between stands around the Expo: "The 2015? It will be a very good year"

A good year. It is the virtually unanimous opinion of Chianti wine producers present these days at the Expo of Chianti Classico in Greve in Chianti.

Made all the incantations of the case, in fact, for 2015 we expect a vintage slap. Walking through the halls of the exhibition we have heard some of the producers present.

Of "perfect grape" speaks Paolo Baldini, owner of Altiero Greve, a production of 14.000 bottles and four types of bottled wine.

"It 'healthy grapes - says - that she did not suffer the arid climate and did not need a lot of treatments, and has a great color".

Baldini also, like others, will anticipate a few days of the harvest, but not so much as he would have thought a month ago. Sangiovese still has a high acidity and therefore you will more or less at the end canon.

On the same wavelength is Lorenzo Sieni owner of Montefioralle, for which there are good prospects for a year "top", which will match the quality and quantity.

Moving in Siena Chianti feel the company Caparsa of Radda in Chianti, which produces about twenty thousand bottles a year.

According to Federico Cianferoni "vintage seems great, although as far as we are concerned we defended well last year when weather conditions have brought some problems grapes of so many companies".

Good feeling for Casa Sola of Barberino Val d'Elsa, whose "spokesman" Andrea Tarrini, at stand, tells of a merlot already harvested and "a good job of thinning the Sangiovese that has definitely impacted positively on the quality".

The harvest (and we talk particularly that of Sangiovese) will be around 20 September, or about ten days earlier than in previous years.

Finally, two companies of Greve in Chianti, small but certainly indicative to have the pulse of the situation.

Maurizio Brogioni, the farm, does not mince words and speaks of vintage "exceptional". "The Merlot and Syrah are at 14 degrees and a half, the grapes are healthy, there is no mold and the gradation is perfect: it's not very good vintage this!" says the enthusiastic to Gazzettino del Chianti.

While also providing an important olive harvest "that finally are healthy and will allow us at least to redo an oil production levels normal."

Confirmation Sabrina Manetti, farm Sagrona, that with a bit of caution in talking about ... more "good conditions".

In this scenery, though, it is the background to contrast the question, raised by many manufacturers, ungulates.

Wild boar, roe deer and fallow deer have indeed made real "massacres" of grapes and sprouts. One problem is the appeal and unanimously convinced of the Chianti wine-growers, should be addressed and solved with the utmost urgency.
